Behold, the almighty algorithm! 📳
Google announced a major update recently: “Today we announce a core update & new spam policies that, in combination, are designed to show less content made to attract clicks and more content that people find useful.”
Let’s break those two components down:
1️⃣ Improved quality ranking core updates will ensure the most helpful information on the web filters to the top and unoriginal content will be shown less.
2️⃣ New and improved spam policies will keep the lowest-quality content out of Search, including expired websites, obituary spam, websites repurposed as spam repositories, etc.
What does this mean for small business owners? Not to panic, first of all! If you already follow SEO best practices, which include regularly creating and posting new content to your website that is designed to be helpful and engaging, then you’ll be fine.
Remember, be sure you’re creating content for people, not for search engines!
