Yoshimura Racers Stir Up Excitement in Anaheim |
|
Chino, Calif. - February 16, 2010 - Yoshimura-supported racers battled it out on Saturday night at Round 6 of the AMA Supercross series, which took place at Anaheim’s Angel Stadium. Both Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s Ryan Dungey and Honda Red Bull Racing’s Davi Millsaps finished in the top five after trading positions throughout the main event.
To start the night, Dungey, on his Yoshimura-equipped RM-Z450, decidedly grabbed the holeshot in Heat #1 and won it. The power of his machine was evident as he carved his way through the tough track; Dungey and his bike looked primed and ready for the big show.
At the drop of the gate in the main event, Dungey came around the first turn in sixth place. He methodically worked his way up to fourth place, passing San Diego race winner Millsaps on the Honda CRF450R for the position. On a slick part of the track, Dungey spun around and Millsaps regained the fourth-place spot, but Dungey immediately went to work on him. By the drop of the checkered flag, Dungey had passed Millsaps again, placing Dungey in fourth and Millsaps in fifth position.
Millsaps and Dungey’s battle was some of the only passing that went on during the 20-lap main event on the tight and tricky track. With the help of Yoshimura, their bikes put on a great show and the crowd cheered and watched intently as the two racers traded positions.
Dungey is currently tied for first place in the overall standings, and Millsaps has a firm grip on fourth place overall. Round 7 of the AMA Supercross series travels east to Indianapolis this week, where racing will take place on February 20 at the Lucas Oil Stadium.
