Rockstar Makita Suzuki Fights to the Finish

Brea, Calif. - February 14, 2010 - The Rockstar Makita Suzuki team put together a solid race effort on Saturday, February 13, at the third Supercross to take place at Angel Stadium in Anaheim. The team's rookie powerhouse, Ryan Dungey, overcame adversity to finish the main event in fourth place and keep himself at the top of the points leaderboard.

On the first dry track the series has seen in three weeks, Dungey was the second fastest rider after 3 practices and he took the holeshot in Heat #1, leading the entire 8 laps. At the drop of the gate for the main event, Dungey shot out in sixth place, but quickly picked the best lines to improve his position. He made his way into fourth position when a misstep spun him around on the track. Dungey was able to keep upright and landed back in fifth place. Focusing on regaining his spot, Dungey made the pass and finished the race in fourth, which puts him in a tie for first place in overall points.

"I felt good after practice, and I feel like we had a good set up on the bike," Dungey said. "But the track was tough. Right from the beginning it was really rutted, but it made for some good racing. I didn't get a great start in the main, which put me back and I couldn't really make the passes stick, was struggling in that area, and just did it to myself. Overall it was good, I had one little mishap that set me back, but I salvaged points which is important."

"He was a little hesitant today in his riding," Team Manager Roger Decoster said. "I think we need to do a better job of adjusting the bike earlier in the day. We cannot back ourselves into the main event making changes. This coming week is going to be good weather-wise and we can do some good testing and get back on track for Indy."

The day was dedicated to breast cancer awareness, and the riders sported pink in their gear and bike graphics in honor of the event.

Round 7 of the series takes place February 20 in Indianapolis at Lucas Oil Stadium. There, Dungey will be rejoined by teammate Austin Stroupe who is competing in the Eastern Regional Lites class aboard the fuel-injected RM-Z250. "So far it's looking really good," Stroupe said. "We've been testing and the team is working really hard. I'm super excited and I'm ready to race."
